Color blindness is an inherited condition affecting 3.5 million Americans: 1 in 10 men and 1 in 20 women. The cones are the photoreceptors in the retina that are responsible for our color vision: S-cones are sensitive to short wavelength blue light, M-cones are sensitive to medium wavelength green light and L-cones are sensitive to long wavelength red light.
Color blind people see the world like people with normal color vision see it at dusk or dawn. At this time of the day colors start to fade away, which is comparable to a color vision deficiency.
Treatment options include special ChromaGen filter glasses.
